Men’s & Women’s Youth and Junior National Team Program 2022
Water Polo Canada is resuming its selection process for the 2022 Youth & Junior National Teams. The Youth National Teams will be participating in the Youth World Championships to be held in Belgrade, Serbia (Men Aug 02-Aug 10, Women Aug 13-Aug 21). There remains a possibility that the teams will compete in Bauru, Brazil in May or June in a Pan American Championship to serve as a qualifying event. The Junior National Teams will be competing at the Junior Pan American Championships in Indianapolis, United States, currently scheduled to take place from July 6-July 10 (tbc).
Given the current level of uncertainty caused by frequent changes due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, please note that the planned programming elements and timelines outlined below remain subject to change. We will provide further confirmation of this process over the coming months and weeks, as more precise information becomes available.

Team Composition
The Youth National Team will be composed of athletes born primarily between 2004 and 2006. The Junior National Team will be composed of athletes born in 2003, 2004 and 2005. The selection process will categorize players based on the needs of the specific program to achieve desired results.
Selection Process
Water Polo Canada will be making the final selections for these teams through monitoring and scoutingduring the NCL and select invitational tournaments. Age Group National Team Coaches along with our Senior National Team Staff will consider the long lists that were already created by National Team Staff in the fall of 2021 as a foundation for their selections.
Information regarding individual costs associated with participation in the centralized trainings, international training camps (as applicable) and competitions are still being ascertained, and will be communicated as soon as possible.
