Fraser Valley and Calgary Renegades Black becomes the 2023 15U Boys’ and Girls’ Western National Champions
Ottawa, May 2, 2023 - Water Polo Canada announces the winners of its Individual Awards following the 2023 NCL 15U Western National Championships on Sunday, April 30, in Calgary.
Following three days of competition, Water Polo Canada’s 2023 NCL U15 Boys’ and Girls’ Western National Champions were crowned, Fraser Valley and Calgary Renegades Black respectively. The 15U Western National Championships were attended by a total of 13 15U girls’ and boys’ teams from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Here are all the individual award winners following the conclusion of the 2023 NCL 15U Western National Championships:
Men
• Most Valuable Offensive Player: Adam Rashed (Delta, B.C.-Fraser Valley Water Polo Club)
• Most Valuable Defensive Player: Nash Porter (Regina, SK-Team Sask)
• Most Valuable Goalie: Lian Kim (Calgary, AB-Calgary Torpedoes)
• Most Valuable Coach: Georgiy Belyaev (Langley, B.C.-Fraser Valley Water Polo Club)
Women
• Most Valuable Offensive Player: McKenna Pineda-McLean (Calgary, AB-Calgary Renegades Black)
• Most Valuable Defensive Player: Tara Marunica (Calgary, AB-Calgary Renegades Black)
• Most Valuable Goalie: Alexandra Stoddard (Abbotsford, B.C.-Fraser Valley Water Polo Club)
• Most Valuable Coach: Alyssa Hunt (Calgary, AB-Calgary Renegades Black and Gold)
All individual award winners were selected following a vote by the team coaches present at the 2023 15U Western National Championships.
The 15U Western National Championships are part of Water Polo Canada National Championship League (NCL), which was created in 2014 to bring the domestic club age group programs under a country wide umbrella that promotes the development of the sport. The NCL offers three categories of play: Senior, 17U, and 15U.
