Water Polo Canada Women's U16 National Team takes 11th place at the 2024 World Aquatics Women’s U16 Championships

Jul. 07, 2024

Ottawa, July 7, 2024 - The Water Polo Canada Women’s U16 National Team took the 11th position at the 2024 World Aquatics Women’s U16 Championships held June 28-July 4 in Manisa, Turkey.

The Canadian team started off the tournament with a 13-0 win against Zimbabwe, followed by a 22-3 loss against Greece in the group phase.

In the classification phase, Canada won 8-6 against South Africa, then recorded a 7-5 loss against Germany.

Canada finished the tournament in 11th position following a 12-11 win against Serbia.

“The 16U World Championships was a great opportunity for our team to gain international experience, come together as a unit, and set goals for the next two years as we continue to take steps forward”, said Water Polo Canada Women’s U16 National Team Head Coach Raine Paul. “This group should be very proud of the progress they made throughout the event and excited for what lies ahead. Now that we have faced some of the top teams in the world, we are ready to start closing the gap and excited to bring this experience back to our home clubs.”

Held every two years, the World Aquatics Women’s U16 Championships showcased athletes who are 16 years old and younger (i.e. born in 2008 or later).

Chad Hogg also attended the 2024 World Aquatics Women’s U16 Championships as a referee.
